Madalina Nicolai

Madalina is a Research Scholar at LawAI, where her research focuses on the regulation of general-purpose AI models and systemic risk under the EU AI Act. Before joining LawAI, she was a Winter Fellow at the Centre for the Governance of AI in Oxford, where she worked on best practices for reporting model evaluations in system cards. Madalina previously worked in Brussels, first at a public affairs consultancy focusing on EU digital and competition policy, and later in the public policy team of a semiconductor manufacturing company. She also spent two years in brand protection and intellectual property enforcement. Madalina holds an LLB in International and European Law from the University of Groningen and an LLM from the University of Cambridge.
