Mick Yang
Mick is a MATS scholar focused on model evaluations and related policies—including frontier safety frameworks and the EU AI Act—and he straddles both technical and policy perspectives. He publishes papers and builds things: best practices on reporting evaluations with Dr. Anka Reuel and Dr. Stephen Casper; report comparing industry practices and the EU Code of Practice with METR, SaferAI, and AI Standards Lab; a Center for AI Safety benchmark; and threat-model demos for the wider public. He is currently completing a Master of Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he earned a First Class law degree from Oxford University, worked in technical management at BCG X, and helped organizations communicate research effectively at an award-winning data visualization studio.
