Most recently, Kathrin was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Talos Network, working with the EU AI Governance team at The Future Society where she was applying her legal and AI governance expertise to advise on the implementation of the EU AI Act, particularly with regards to general-purpose AI. Kathrin also serves as the Policy Lead and Board Member at AI Governance and Safety Canada where she consults provincial and federal governments on AI regulation and teaches a course on Canadian AI policy. Her prior experience includes working as a legal research associate, privacy evangelist, data protection officer, and data and AI governance consultant for tech start-ups in Canada. She recently co-led an AI Safety Camp project in which she developed an AI liability course for policymakers. Kathrin holds a German and Canadian law degree and is pursuing her philosophy PhD at McMaster University. She is a Certified Information Protection Professional (Canada) and an AI Governance Professional, certified by the IAPP.
