Floris Mertens (1998) is a PhD researcher at the Financial Law Institute of Ghent University, where he studies the use of artificial intelligence in corporate board decision-making under the supervision of Prof. dr. Hans De Wulf. His research has so far focused on the intersection between company law and AI from a comparative perspective. He has been a visiting researcher at Oxford, Columbia, and the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg. He graduated summa cum laude in law from Ghent University and previously gained experience in legal practice and public policy.
