Dr José Jaime Villalobos

José Jaime Villalobos is the Multilateral Governance Lead at the Future of Life Institute. He is also a Research Affiliate at LawAI and at the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative. His work focuses on advocacy for the reduction of global catastrophic risk through international law and policy. José holds a PhD from Victoria University of Wellington and an LLM (international law) from the University of Cambridge, which he obtained as a Chevening Scholar. He has held roles in government, academia, private practice and not-for-profit organisations, including Co-Founder and Chief Editor of the Costa Rican Journal of International Law.
