FAQ
- Applicants for the US and EU Law streams should have prior legal experience through study or work in those jurisdictions. We also encourage applications from individuals who have studied or practiced US and EU Law, but are now based elsewhere.
- For the Legal Frontiers track, applicants from all jurisdictions are eligible, including those without a primary background in law.
Yes. While candidates should have an interest in AI, law and policy and be prepared to apply their research abilities and legal knowledge to questions in our field, prior experience or expertise in AI-specific research is not required.
- Generally not for the US and EU Law tracks, as they require a strong understanding of the legal principles applicable to AI regulation in the jurisdictions we focus on. To be considered, candidates should have formal training of some kind.
- For the Legal Frontiers stream, we welcome applicants without a primary background in law. We encourage those with backgrounds in computer science, public policy, economics, history, psychology, or physics to apply.
Yes. We expect fellows to actively engage in discussions, collaborations, and presentations. For this reason, we require full professional fluency in both spoken and written English.
Yes. Practicing lawyers, law/policy researchers, and academics are encouraged to apply. We highly value relevant experience.
Yes, fellows must have valid work authorization in the country where they will be working. If you receive an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to support visa sponsorship. However, our ability to do so depends on the role, the candidate, and their location, and the relevant authorities ultimately determine eligibility.
Unfortunately, no. While we carefully review every application, the high volume of submissions (over 4,000 in the last cycle) means we are unable to offer individualized feedback.
